  • 1/2 day online group training session by Prof. dr. Bram Desmet
  • 1/2 day in-company exercise with your executive team

Date: February 16th, 2021

We will kick off this masterclass program with a first online group session on the 3 corners of the Supply Chain Triangle; i.e. Service, Cash & Cost & how it links to ROCE, and create insights on questions like:

  • How the 3 corners of the triangle Service, Cost & Cash are interdependent and lead to tensions
  • The struggle for Balance
  • How to expand the Cash corner to Capital Employed
  • Return On Capital Employed (ROCE)
  • How ROCE can be used as a balancing metric or as a decision criterion to make trade-offs in the triangle
  • Link of ROCE to other financial parameters
  • Decomposition of ROCE to Supply Chain metrics
  • ROCE as a benchmarking tool

During the second online group session, we continue to broaden our knowledge by reviewing different strategy models, understanding the impact on our ROCE, and create insights on questions like:

  • Different strategies lead to different trade-offs and different trade-offs lead to different supply chains
  • The right EBIT for the right Capital Employed
  • Linking Treacy & Wiersema to the Supply Chain Triangle and to ROCE

The goal of the third online group session is to understand your own business drivers and map out your end-to-end strategy-driven supply chain. An interactive session in which we’ll create insights on questions like:

  • Extending to 7 value drivers and mapping these to the strategy model of Treacy & Wiersema

  • 8 common fails when it comes to Supply Chain design

The masterclass consists of 5 modules that are held in the period of February – June. So, one module every month.

Each module consists of 3 sessions:

  • Session 1: 1/2 day online group training session by Prof. dr. Bram Desmet including a case study by an industry expert. This session will be held on the start date of every module as mentioned above.
  • Session 2: gather your executive team during the following week for an in-company exercise of approx. half a day to apply the principles you’ve learned in session 1
  • Session 3: before the start of the next module you’ll have an individual debriefing with a Strategy Consultant from Solventure to discuss the outcome.
